Dear All,

After a time of reflection and a break from everything we’ve experienced, we want to share with you what happened, as well as the current status of the project.

As many of you know, this has been a major setback for us. We started with great enthusiasm to create something memorable, magical, with no intention of making money (but also not to lose any, of course), but rather to share something that we love and that is our life, inviting you to a unique ritual experience. And the experience was indeed unique, but, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to make a last-minute change and shift the original concept.

On our side, we did everything we could to ensure the event’s viability under the conditions we announced. In addition to ensuring confirmation from the owner of the La Lima Land that there would be no issues (regarding permits, sound, etc.), to make sure nothing was overlooked, we had a meeting in August with the mayor of the town and the land owner (together) to present our project and ask directly about its viability.

The response was that, from their side, there was no problem, and we could go ahead with the event as long as we did not disturb any neighbors. With this information, we proceeded.

We rented trucks, purchased materials, recruited friends and volunteers (now friends, too), and headed south. The NoMoon team spent the entire month of October working on building what was to be an unforgettable event (and it was, both in the bad and in the beautiful moments).

On the day of the event, before the music started, the Guardia Civil - SEPRONA (countryside law enforcement corps) showed up at the entrance of the land and informed us that they had received instructions from the Commandery not to allow anyone to access the land.

It seemed that the event could not take place because it had not been communicated to the management of the Natural Park where the land is located, which we were not informed of when we met with the mayor in August. Obviously, if we had known this, we would have consulted the Park to see if the location was viable or would have looked for another venue; there was plenty of time.

Given this, and despite our efforts to try and resolve the situation so the event could go ahead at that location, we were informed that the decision was final.

In this new scenario, and with all the frustration, sadness, anger, and a broken heart, we focused on moving forward. Our efforts were split into two directions: first, finding a place for all the attendees in El Pedroso to sleep, and second, finding another location to hold No Moon.

The attendees in El Pedroso were addressed to an area where they were allowed to camp, and we were allowed to bring them food, water, tents, and sleeping bags.

For the second point, finding an alternative venue, the team got to work contacting everyone we could think of, and we finally found one with @globaltribe (thanks again). The news came on Friday morning, and we immediately informed everyone of the change via social media as soon as we had confirmation (just like we did with everything that was happening).

The only limitations they imposed were that the event had to end by Sunday night, the sound wattage had to be limited, and we couldn’t set up a second stage, so we had to adapt to the circumstances (we apologize again to the artists of the Alternative stage).

The rest of the story you already know: after everything, it was an incredible event, thanks to all of you, those who supported us by coming (and those who supported us from afar).

We were devastated by the situation and by those who couldn’t attend; we deeply regret that. But our hearts were filled with joy to see everyone who attended enjoying themselves and supporting us. We are immensely grateful for that and for the luck we had in finding @globaltribe.

On our part, we think you know that we did everything we could to make sure NoMoon went ahead. And it did: the event was held at a new location about an hour’s drive from the original site and lasted from Friday to Sunday night.

It is important to mention that, in addition to all the effort, the time and money investment to build the original place that ultimately went unrewarded, this change required us to rent a new venue and cover other unforeseen costs, along with all the energy and heart we put in. But still, we preferred to do it, regardless of the cost, to offer an alternative for the people who were still hopeful that this magical event would happen.

We also want to be honest and transparent with all of you and share that the event’s income was roughly as expected, but the change of location led to a 30% increase in costs (which we, as the organizers, assumed without hesitation).

Once again, we apologize to those who couldn’t make it and to anyone who was negatively affected by this situation. And once again, we thank everyone for the support we received (also from afar), for all the love and encouragement, the understanding, kind words, and gestures from artists and attendees. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts 🖤.

That support, that feeling of community that was created, made all the effort worthwhile. It has given us strength and motivation to repeat the event in the future, learning from what we experienced, so we can make it even better.

Finally, we want to mention that, since several people have reached out asking how they can financially contribute to help us cover the expenses incurred, we are providing the No Moon Association’s bank account: ES96 2100 1674 9902 0057 8951. We are grateful for any help you can offer. For us, every contribution, no matter how small, is a huge relief.

If you were unable to attend the event and would like us to consider some form of compensation, please email us at nomoonproject@gmail.com before January 31, 2025.

Due to the team’s financial situation, and since we were ultimately able to offer an alternative for the event, we won’t be issuing refunds for contributions. In case of requesting compensation, we will consider providing access to one of the upcoming events, which will be announced soon.

Thank you all once again, from the heart of No Moon. Without your support, this wouldn’t have been possible.

Sincerely,

The No Moon Team 🖤
